Robert Smallwood

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Robert Smallwood, 65, of Brookport, formerly of Carrier Mills, died 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Metropolis. Visitation will be held after 11 a.m. Friday at the church. The Rev. John Tuthill and the Rev. Baugher will officiate. Burial will be in Kingston Cemetery near Metropolis. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on May 19, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Charles and Vine (Hatfield) Smallwood. He married Glenda Burton on Aug. 16, 1996, in Paducah, Ky., and she survives.

He was a retired truck driver and mortician. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Smallwood of Brookport; three stepchildren, Stephanie (Steve) Singer and Joseph (Eva) Martin, both of Brookport and Billy (Reba) Martin Jr. of Shawneetown; five sisters, Mary (Walter) Reed of Florence, Ky., Juny (Carl) Kennedy of Alexandria, Ky., Tonsie (Joe) Demingis of Elsmer, Ky., Axie Conley of Dayton, Ky., and Joann Vonwillow of Belleview, Ky.; six stepgrandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Smallwood; and two sisters, Shirley Little and Mandy Hizner.
