Dr. Nina M. Sharrard
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Dr. Nina M. Sharrard, 81, passed away 8:10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at the Fountain View Nursing Home in Eldorado.
Per her request, her body has been cremated. A Memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at the First Christian Church in Eldorado.
Arrangements are in the charge of Colonial Terrace Funeral Home, Eldorado.
She was born in the Casey area to Roy and Edna Staley.
She was the widow of Mark E. Sharrard.
After receiving a bachelor of science degree in nursing at Indiana State University, she went on to get her master's in nursing at Wayne State University, Detroit, Mich. She got her Ph.D. in public health administration at Indiana University, Bloomington, Ind. She retired from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Ind., as a full professor and an assistant to the dean of nursing.
After moving to Florida, she was very active in Church, Community Theater, a United Way volunteer, she helped start a small library at their club house, was a member on the Board of their Kelly Greens Association, and volunteered as a mentor for fifth and sixth grade children. She was also a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Fort Myers, Fla., and attended First Christian Church when they moved to the Eldorado area.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Priscilla and Larry Delaunois; grandson, Jamie (Anissa) Delaunois; and two great-grandchildren, Shelby and Brendan Delaunois.
