Nelson Lee Morgenthaler
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Nelson Lee Morgenthaler, 79, of Pinckneyville, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at his home.
Nelson was born on Jan. 13, 1929, in Perry County, a son to Carrel and Lillie Mae (Queen) Morgenthaler. He married Evelyn Anne Haggard on June 11, 1955, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, and she survives.
Nelson was of the Southern Baptist faith, served in the United States Army and was a foreman for Turco Manufacturing in Du Quoin. He enjoyed restoring and tinkering with John Deere tractors, attending the Thresherman shows, repairing sewing machines and was an avid musician.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Anne Morgenthaler of Pinckneyville; one son, Dale (LeAnn) Morgenthaler of Du Quoin; two daughters, Doris Anne (George Q.) Wilson of Harrisburg and Dana Lynn (Jeffrey) Pritchett of Pinckneyville; grandchildren, Patrick Allen and special friend Kacie, Lauren Christine and husband Wes, Morgan Brooke, Jason Robert and wife Jennifer, Christopher Ryan and wife Whitney, Dylan Lee and Jared Levi; and one sister, Mabel Valentin of Plant City, Fla.
He was preceded by his parents; one sister, Lucille Lows; and two brothers, Jacob and Welcher Morgenthaler.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, with Bro. Charles Smith officiating. Interment will be in Holt's Prairie Cemetery, Pinckneyville. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, and from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday.
