Mack Farland Shelton
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mack Farland Shelton, 84, of Thompsonville, passed away at 9:50 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at the V.A. hospital in Marion.
Mack was born Dec. 3, 1923, to Charles Blaine and Sofia Ellen (McFarland) Shelton. Mack was married Sept. 30, 1950, to Joann (Heflin) Shelton and she survives.
Mack was a steel worker for over 20 years. He loved watching Shepherds Chapel on television.
He was in the Army in World War II and served as an air rescue paratrooper.
He is survived by his daughter, Theresa from Traverse City, Mich.; sons, Terry and Roger Shelton of Thompsonville. He had three grandchildren, Michelle Schwipps, Daniel Wallington, and Dawn Lyon. He had nine great-grandchildren, Steven, Travis, Avery, Kaitlyn, Autumn, Olivia, Danny, Ethan and Sara. He had a sister Maurgeret, and brothers Charles and Tommy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Vernon and Edward.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia. Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted by the family.
