William Harold Lind Sr.
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[William Harold Lind Sr., 88, of Eldorado, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
William was born on July 28, 1920, in Ledford to the late William Lind and Verda Mae (Garris) Lind Campbell. He married Maryann Jacobs on June 11, 1952, in Harrisburg, and she survives.
He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran where he had attained the rank of sergeant. He served for eight years starting in 1940; serving in several campaigns, including locations such as MacDill Field, Florida, BW8 Greenland, Hawaii and the South Pacific.
William was a steel worker and he retired from Republic Steel in Chicago where he had worked for 25 years. He was Baptist by faith and a member of the American Legion Post No. 167 of Harrisburg. He also was a former volunteer firefighter in the Chicago area. He was an avid outdoorsman; he loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and walking.
William is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maryann Lind; four children, son William Harold Lind Jr. of California, daughter Rose Rector and husband Robert of Galatia, son David Lind of Anna, daughter Susan Graczyk and husband Frank of Eldorado; three grandchildren, Jessica Gaines and husband Matthew of Eldorado, Melissa Graczyk of Eldorado and Erica Graczyk of Eldorado; half- brother, James "Jesse" Graves of Harrisburg; half-sister, Brenda Lind; great-granddaughter, Madison Gaines of Eldorado; and many fondly remembered nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lewis Wayne Lind; and three sisters, Faye Masulis, Aline Kirklin and Marie Edwards.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Elder Wendell Yeary will officiate with burial to follow in Garris Cemetery, Stonefort. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Harrisburg American Legion Post No. 167. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
