Excel Butler

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Excel Butler, 73, of 202 E. Logan St., Harrisburg, died 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at his residence.

Memorial services for cremated remains will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. on Monday. The Rev. Ownly Williams will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Bolton, Miss.

He was born on Aug. 31, 1935, in Bolton, Miss., to the late E.B. and Iola (Thomas) Butler.

He was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean era.

He is survived by his companion, Neverna Jones of Harrisburg; daughter, Gwendolyn Wade of Atlanta, Ga.; four stepdaughters, Angela Tyler, Carmen Wilson and Lasonya Wilson, all of Harrisburg and Tonya Gooday of Ft. Jackson, S.C.; a brother, Paul Butler of Bolton, Miss.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Odie Butler; and a sister, Emma T. Henderson.
