Walter Stricklin
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Walter Stricklin, 80, a resident of Harrisburg, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
He was born Oct. 5, 1928, in Mitchellsville to the late Wilson Andrew and Lula May Gulley Stricklin. On Sept. 2, 1949, he married Betty Simmons and she preceded him in death on April 12, 1982.
Walter was a self-employed mechanic and owned Stricklin's Auto Repair in the Buena Vista community.
He was a member and former pastor of the Community of Christ, formerly known as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Kay and husband Victor Pagan of Makanda; two sisters, Dorothy Reynolds of Edwardsville and Denia McConnell of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Christopher and wife Melissa Price of Herod and Sandra A. and husband Michael McLean of Evanston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and nine brothers and sisters.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg with the Rev. Dewayne Seets officiating and Gordon Lambert assisting. Burial will be in Maple Wood Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
