Corintha Chavis

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Corintha Chavis, 92, of 980 Taborn Road, Carrier Mills, died 8 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at Lakeview Cemetery in Carrier Mills. There will be no visitation; friends should go directly to the cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted. The Rev. Greg Barnett and Sister Claretta Williams will officiate. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on July 13, 1916, in Carrier Mills to the late Henry Benjamin and Lenora Jane (Taborn) Cole. She married William "Bill" Chavis on Jan. 26, 1935, and he preceded her in death on March 2, 1991.

She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in the Lakeview community near Carrier Mills. She enjoyed her home, gardening, cooking, quilting and worshiping at her beloved church.

She is survived by two sisters, Lina (Sam) Witherspoon of Carrier Mills and Artie Chachere of Los Angeles, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Vincent Cole; and two sisters, Mary Marcella Pierce and Lucille Mooreland.
