Carl Victor Gates

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Carl Victor Gates, 78, Raleigh, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2008, at his residence.

He was born on October 15, 1930, in Wasson to the late Ernest Victor and Lois (Moore) Gates.

On August 15, 1953, he married Mary Ann Dunning and she preceded him in death on February 9, 2004.

Carl was a member of the First Christian Church of Harrisburg. He was a retired farmer, a 4-H leader, a member of the Mr. and Mrs. Club and a member of the Farm Bureau.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Greg) Lambert of Harrisburg and Jill (Rodney) Harris of Thompsonville; son, Eric (Tami) Gates of Raleigh; five grandchildren, Rachel Richey, Richard Harris, Carrie Duffee, Maggie Lambert and Scottie Gates; eight great-grandchildren, Paige Duffee, Bryer Duffee, Rylin Harris, Mary Richey, Chelsey Harris, Isabelle Harris, Luke Richey and Mark Richey.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg with the Rev. Howard Scott officiating. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery in Eldorado. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel.

Memorials may be made in the form of donations to the Saline County 4-H Federation or VNA Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
