Mildred Wallace
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mildred Wallace, 85, of Harrisburg, passed away at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
She was born on May 8, 1923, in Harrisburg to the late Howard and Britta Randolph. She lived most of her life in Harrisburg. Before her marriage she worked as secretary at the Scott Air Force Base.
She was married on Aug. 1, 1942, to Byrum Wallace, who survives. She had one son, Larry Wallace, also of Harrisburg.
She is also survived by three sisters Bonita Hancock, Lois (Loren) Lambert and Sue (John) Mott, all of Harrisburg.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Wayne and Harold Randolph; and sisters, Helen Porter and Juanita Engleby. Also surviving are brothers-in-law, Kestner and Gaylord Wallace of Harrisburg, along with nieces and nephews.
Mildred was a talented pianist and played for various churches and quartets, also serving as vocalist.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Gentry officiating, burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. The family request there be no floral or food contributions, instead, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
