Charles W. Evans Jr.

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Charles W. Evans Jr., 66, of Vandalia, died 11:29 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, 2008, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at Evans Cemetery in rural Vandalia with military rites by Crawford-Hale American Post No. 95, Vandalia. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at Hohlt and File Funeral Home, Vandalia.

He was born Aug. 17, 1941, in Vandalia to Rea O. (Lidel) and the late Charles Warren Evans Sr. On Oct. 2, 1965, he married Mary Lambert in Vandalia.

He was a retired certified nurse anesthetist and graduated St. Louis City Hospital of Nursing and Fitzsimmons Army Hospital School of Anesthetist, Denver, Colo. He was a member of Crawford-Hale American Legion Post No. 95, Vandalia.

In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by a son, Major Charles W. (Robin) Evans III of Riverton; a daughter, Mari (Mike) Gilford of Columbia, Mo.; a brother, Walter (Tina) Evans of Vandalia; a sister, Tanja Ervin of Vandalia; and three grandchildren.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Brad Evans; and a sister, Rea Ella Evans.

Memorials may be made to the choice of the donor.
