Robert 'Bob' Eugene Rose

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Robert "Bob" Eugene Rose, 85, of Harrisburg, passed away at 7:05 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at his residence in Harrisburg.

Bob was born in Harrisburg on July 12, 1923, to the late Cecile Rose. He married the former Dorrice Lasseter at the First United Methodist Church in Harrisburg on May 15, 1949, and she survives in Harrisburg.

Bob was a retired UMWA coal miner. He worked more than 30 years at the Will Scarlet Mine at Stonefort. Bob was a World War II Army veteran and he graduated from Harrisburg High School. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Harrisburg American Legion.

Survivors include his wife Dorrice of Harrisburg; daughter, Cindy Painter and husband Larry of Chuckey, Tenn.; son, Robin Rose and wife Teresa of Winchester, Ky.; daughter, Martha Head and husband Wayne of Harrisburg; daughter, Sarah Adams and husband Chris of Leo, Ind.; 14 grandchildren, Lauren Painter, Nick Painter, Chad Painter, Dillon Rose, Melissa Bibb, Mike Bibb, Jared Head, Lori Head, Ami Ruot, Gayla Murphy-Fourez, Drew Adams, Emily Adams, Millie Adams and Abby Adams; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church in Harrisburg. The Rev. Paul Widicus will officiate. The family will be receiving friends at the church from noon to service time. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois Blue East Team. Envelopes will be available at the church.
