Joel McSparin

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Joel McSparin, 91, of Overland, Mo., formerly of Stonefort, died 2 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at Zion Cemetery near Ozark. There will be no visitation. All friends should go directly to the cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American legions. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on June 12, 1917, in Stonefort to the late James Wesley and Rose Elizabeth (Burns) McSparin.

He married the former Helen Wiman, who preceded him in death.

He owned and operated an auto dealership in St. Louis, Mo., for many years.

He served in the Air Force during World War II.

He is survived by a brother, Clyde McSparin of Paducah, Ky.; good friend, Bernie Burns of Bowling Green, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a sister, Jeanette Appel.
