</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Connie Lazaro, 54, of Raleigh, died 4:17 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at Heartland Regional Medical Center, Marion.

Services will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with John Shackelford and Kenny Smith officiating. The body will be cremated after the services. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at the funeral home.

She was born Oct. 8, 1953, in Christopher to John and Mary (Wormley) Carter.

She was a member of Union Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a lab technician.

She is survived by a son, John Lazaro of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister, Ruth (Richard) Clark of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and Tate's Chapel Cemetery.
