Nellie F. McCabe

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Nellie F. McCabe, 91, of El Paso, Texas, formerly of Stonefort, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, in El Paso.

In accordance to her wishes, she has been cremated. Interment of cremated remains will be at St. Francis De Sales Cemetery in New Burnside at a later date.

She was born on Oct. 3, 1916, in Argentine, Kan., to the late Thomas O. and Mollie (Fowley) McCabe.

She graduated from Carrier Mills High School, she received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

She was a retired school teacher, teaching primary education.

She began her career at Stonefort Grade School, moving on to the Peoria school system. She later taught in El Paso, Texas, for two years before retiring from Des Plaines school system.

She was a member of the St. Pius Catholic Church in El Paso, Texas.

She is survived by a brother, Tom (Mildred) McCabe of El Paso, Texas; three nieces, Deborah (Harry) Whitehill and Marie McCabe, both of El Paso, Texas and Mary G. (Daniel) Wilgus of Athens, Texas; two nephews, Thomas O. (Grace) McCabe of Alexandria, Va. and Pat McCabe of Tempe, Ariz.; five great-nephews; and two great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry L. McCabe; and a nephew, Michael McCabe.
