James B. 'Jim' Deaton

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[James B. "Jim" Deaton, 62, of Carrier Mills, died 9:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, in Harrisburg.

He was born July 7, 1946, in Harrisburg to the late Joe and Mabel (Cain) Deaton.

He was an Army veteran, a coal miner working for Patriot Coal in Kentucky and a Christian.

He is survived by two sons, Brad Deaton of Carterville and Jason (Jill) Deaton of Carrier Mills; a sister, Donn Hutson of Galatia; and several grandchildren, Tiffany Deaton, Tyler Deaton, Nolen Deaton and little "Scooter" Deaton, due to arrive in December.

In addition to his parents, he was prefceded in death by a brother, Bob Dunn.

Graveside services with military honors by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American legions will precede burial 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at the Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills. The Rev. Roger Marvel will officiate. There will be no visitation. Those planning to attend the service should meet at the cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home, Carrier Mills.
