</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Larry Allen Smith, 61, of Independence, Mo., formerly of McLeansboro, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at Center Point Medical Center, Independence.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Leland Widick officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery near Dahlgren. Visitation is noon to service time Friday at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife, the former Lina Alvarez; two sons; daughter-in-law; a daughter; a son-in-law; three grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters-in-law; a sister; a brother-in-law; seven nieces and nephews; and 13 great-nieces and nephews.
