Opal Halene (Sweat) McDaniel

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Opal Halene (Sweat) McDaniel, 92, of Harrisburg, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008 at Fountain View Nursing Home in Eldorado.

She was born on Feb. 29, 1916, in Gallatin County to the late Cecil Edward and Nellie Mae (Barnett) Sweat. On Dec. 21, 1933, she married William Andrew McDaniel and he preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 1985.

Opal was a member of the Dorrisville Social Brethren Church, the Rebekah's Lodge and the Harrisburg Medical Center Auxiliary.

Surviving family members include three daughters, Ruby Harding (Richard) Harper of Harrisburg, Nina Ruth (Earl) Vaughn of Harrisburg and Rita (Henry) Bramlet of Eldorado; two brothers, Lewie Sweat of Harrisburg and James Sweat of Hillsville, Va.; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Bill Sweat; and a sister, Stella Blake.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Charlie Bramlet will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Equality.
