Lola Ewell

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Lola Ewell, 96, of 120 S. Land St., Harrisburg, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at Saline Care Center in Harrisburg.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Mitchellsville with Bill Ewell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is after 1 p.m. Sunday at the church. Arrangements are in the charge of Felty Funeral Home, Carrier Mills. Memorials may be made to the Macedonia Baptist Church.

She was born on Dec. 1, 1911, in Herod to the late James Thomas and Della (Hale) Gibbs. She married Virgil Ewell on Dec. 1, 1931, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2001.

She was a lifelong member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Mitchellsville, where she was also the church treasurer and Sunday School secretary for many years.

She is survived by a son, Bill (Gradie) Ewell of Marion; two grandsons, Kevin (Gail) Ewell of Paulton and Eric (Christina) Ewell of Herrin; two great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Carsen Ewell of Herrin; two sisters, Betty Randolph of Harrisburg and Hazel Gulledge of Lawrenceville; and a sister-in-law, Thelma Gibbs.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Gibbs; and a sister, Virginia Gibbs.
