John William Green
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[At 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, John left this Earth to be with his Lord and Savior.
He was born on Dec. 22, 1940, to Alonzo and Ola Green; his mother survives. On May 13, 1960, he married Carolyn Phelps, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by wife, Sandy; daughters, Joyce Green, Michele (Ben) Hankins and Sheila (Scott) Amberger, all of Galatia; and the apples of his eyes, grandchildren, T.J. (Nathan) Perry of Clarksville, Tenn., Terrah (Nick) Oldham of Louisville, Ky. and Kayla, Cassandra and John Amberger, all of Galatia; brothers and sisters, Mary Baker, Norma (Roy) Wece, Vivian (Jim) Lee, Goldie (Jess) Parks, Alice (Luke) Dunn, Ladonna Green, Mike (Becky) Green, Sonny Green and Kenny Green; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Dennis (Janet) Phelps, Barbara (Virgil) Berrong, Bobby (Deb) Todd, Becky (Pete) Skelton, Debbie (Roger) Sparks and Ronnie (Joyce) Campbell; stepchildren, David (Rafhaun) Leinenbach, Shannon Leinenbach, Amy Leinenbach; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; father, Alonzo Green; sister, Ester Green; brother, Charles Green; and father- and mother-in-law, Charles and Wilma Phelps.
Funeral will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Tate's Chapel Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to his daughter, the Joyce Green Fund.
The Rev. Kevin Peyton will officiate.
