Harold W. Cowsert

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Harold W. Cowsert, 72, mayor of the City of Rosiclare, passed away Saturday morning, July 5, 2008.

Harold was born Oct. 25, 1935, in Hardin County, the son of Frank Cowsert and Opal (Milligan) Cowsert.

He married Ruby Lewis on June 9, 1956. She preceded him in death in 1989.

Harold married the former Donna R. Damron on Nov. 11, 1995. He retired from Reynolds Aluminum in Chicago and then from Ozark Mahoning in Rosiclare where he worked in the field on a core drill and then in the mill.

Surviving are his wife, Donna R. Cowsert of Rosiclare; daughter, Cindy Swallows of Ojai, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Sandra Cowsert of Golconda; four grandchildren, Melanie Trattner and husband Glenn of Torrance, Calif., Josh Swallows of Ojai, Calif., Delaney Cowsert and Destaney Cowsert of Golconda; two great-grandchildren, Abigail Ruby Trattner and Lila Rose Trattner, of Torrance, Calif.; stepson and daughter-in-law, Joey and Carolyn Dutton of Cave-In-Rock; stepgrandchildren, Jonathan Dutton, Victoria Dutton and Ian Dutton of Cave-In-Rock; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Elva and Earl Wilson of Shawneetown, Fran Hickrod of Carpentersville and Mary Cook of Shawneetown; brothers and sister-in-law, Frank "Bud" Cowsert Jr. and Olga Cowsert of Powder Springs, Ga., Larry Cowsert of Effingham; several nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Opal Cowsert; wife, Ruby; and son-in-law, Larry Swallows.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Hosick Funeral Home in Rosiclare. Funeral services for Harold will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Hosick Funeral Home in Rosiclare; the Rev. Gary Hardesty will officiate. He will be laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Elizabethtown.

Memorials may be made in his memory to Golden Circle, state Route 146, Box 191-A, Elizabethtown, Ill. 62931. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
