Couple engaged on 'Today' show back in front of lens

Caytie Bonville has good reason to love the "Today" show.

When she and her then-boyfriend, Mark Bonville, stood in the crowd outside the NBC show's studio on Feb. 21, 1997, she had no idea he was about to propose to her on live TV.

More than a decade later, the New Hartford couple is approaching their tenth anniversary, and they are back on national television again as part of "Today's" new "Why I Love Today" promotion.

"It was a wonderful experience, and the people from New York were absolutely fabulous," Caytie Bonville said of the seven-hour film shoot that took place at her home last week.

Caytie Bonville said she submitted her story on the show's Web site, but was surprised when it was selected for a series of short clips showing how "Today" has touched people's lives.

"I did it kind of as a lark," she said. "I never dreamed they'd come up and do a promotion on it."

The Bonvilles' story was one of 15 chosen so far from more than 1,700 submissions. Selection and filming of the promotions is ongoing, an NBC representative said.
