Sen. Walsh says no thanks to possible judge position

State Sen. Marian Walsh has pulled her name from consideration for several judgeships being filled by Gov. Deval Patrick.

Michael Goldman, a Walsh political consultant,said, "Marian decided at least for the time being she's going to stay in the state Senate."

Goldman said Patrick had not offered a judge position to Walsh. Walsh, a Democrat, represents several Bost wards plsu Dedham, Westwood and Norwood. She was one of 12 finalists being considered for four district judge positions.

In recent weeks rumors swirled that Walsh was up for a judgeship, and an array of politicians said they were interested in Walsh's seat.

City Councilors Rob Consalvo and John Tobin and state Rep. Mike Rush, D-West Roxbury, all said they would like to run for the state Senate seat.

Tobin even pulled election papers for the state Senate seat. Albeit Tobin's papers are moot at this point, but he's still got plans for them.

"Kate (Tobin's wife) and I are going to have a glass wine on Saturday night and make a nice fire," joked Tobin on Monday night.

Rush has taken out reelection papers for his state representative seat, and Walsh has taken out reelection papers for her state Senate seat.
