McCarron sentencing delayed

<p align="justify">Karen McCarron will have to wait another three weeks before finding out her sentence for suffocating her autistic daughter, now that her attorney has asked for an extension.

<p align="justify">McCarron was scheduled for a sentencing hearing at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Tazewell County Circuit Court after being found guilty Jan. 17 of suffocating 3-year-old Katherine "Katie" McCarron.

<p align="justify">But her attorney, Marc Wolfe, was granted a continuance for the sentencing hearing, now scheduled for 9 a.m. April 1.

<p align="justify">Wolfe said Tuesday he needed more time to review a 200-page pre-sentence report that he said was just given to him Monday.

<p align="justify">Wolfe said that wouldn't have given him enough time to review the report and be ready for the sentencing hearing by Wednesday.

<p align="justify">"Everybody wants to be as thorough as they can," he said. "Everybody wants to do the best job they possibly can."

<p align="justify">McCarron faces between 20 years and 100 years in prison for suffocating her daughter with a garbage bag in 2006 because she no longer wanted to deal with a child who had autism.

<p align="justify">She remains in the Tazewell County Jail.
