Looking Up: Moon memories and Earth light you can see tonight

The new moon occurred March 7. The writer well remembers another new moon on March 7 -- in 1970. That day the moon partly covered the sun as seen from his hometown (Honesdale) and a wide area of the United States and was the first one he had the opportunity to observe. Perhaps some readers witnessed the total eclipse that day, which was visible along a narrow track. It passed over the Virginia Beach area of Virginia, where his late friend Danny Janosik and his family went to see it.
