Dog-killing suspect faces new charge

A Rochester woman accused of breaking into her estranged husband's house and killing his dog now faces an additional charge of first-degree criminal contempt.

Ontario County Sheriff's deputies on Friday charged Caryn A. Consilio, 29, of 10 Lansdale St., Rochester, with first-degree criminal contempt in connection with a Dec. 15 incident, in which she allegedly broke into the home of Daniel Consilio at 5717 Running Brook Drive in Farmington just before midnight, stole several items and stabbed the man's Pomeranian dog to death.

Investigator Matt McDonald said the latest charge was levied because Consilio allegedly violated an order of protection aiming to keep her away from her husband. The violation occurred the same night as the alleged burglary, he said.

Consilio is being held at the Ontario County Jail on $25,000 cash or $50,000 bail bond and already faces charges of second-degree aggravated cruelty to animals, second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree stalking charges.

If convicted, Consilio could face up to seven years in prison, according to Assistant District Attorney Kathleen Valone.
