Pontiac flooding: Water level dropping

The Vermilion River is dropping at the rate of an inch an hour, according to Illinois American Water Co. employees at the water plant.

The water was down to 115 inches over the dam at 8 a.m. Thursday. The river was said to have reached at least 146 inches, but City Administrator Bob Karls said Thursday the actual readings may not be completely accurate.
