Pontiac flooding: Damage to be assessed Monday
An initial assessment by state emergency personnel of flood damage in Pontiac is likely Monday and will help determine if the governor will ask for federal help for the city.
"We estimate that Monday will serve well for us to bring in teams from IEMA - damage-assessment teams to conduct the initial damage assessment," the director of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency, Andrew Velasquez III, said at a Thursday afternoon media briefing. By then, water should have receded enough to allow such an assessment.
