Happy Thanksgiving from Afghanistan

Somerville's Christopher Clark got an unexpected day off for Thanksgiving.

It was unexpected as he's serving abroad at Forward Operating Base Sharana, which is due south of Kabul, Afghanistan.

He's sent along photos, including one of a "fallen commarade," who died during an ambush, and Clark has asked you to remember that soldier in your prayers this Thanksgiving.

As for Clark, he's looking forward to a meal on base, and is studying to become a firefighter when he leaves the service. His one complaint is the huts servicemen are given are not much defense against the cold in the mountains.
