Sledgehammer attack stopped after man told he won't go to heaven
A Framingham man who police say tried to kill his girlfriend yesterday with a sledgehammer stopped the attack after she told him if he killed her he would not go to heaven, authorities said.
Frederick Woodard, 73, was arrested at 8:11 a.m. after the 5 a.m. attack on his girlfriend, Kathryn McLellan, 44, in their 48 Underwood Ave. apartment, prosecutor David Clayton said in Framingham District Court yesterday.
