Religion in the News: What did Jesus do?

A movie due out in 2009 seeks to recreate Jesus' lost years - the time between age 13 and 30 that the Bible doesn't account for. The film will present Jesus as a mystic who travels across India, living in Buddhist monasteries and speaking out against the iniquities of the country's caste system, according to The Guardian. The movie, which is sure to be as controversial as "The Last Temptation of Christ," will be shot in a style similar to that of "300" and will feature a "young and beautiful" princess - although its not clear if the woman will be Jesus' love interest. The Guardian quoted the film's director -- Drew Heriot, director of "The Secret" - as saying: "The Bible devotes just seven words to the most formative years of Yeshua's life, saying: 'The boy grew in wisdom and stature'. The [film] will follow Christ's journey to the east where he encounters other traditions, and discovers the principles that are the bedrock of all the world's great religions."
