Correction officer faces charges

On Friday afternoon, Butler County Sheriff Investigators brought former El Dorado Correctional Facility guard Amber Goff back to Kansas from Grant, N.M.

Goff is accused of aiding the escape of two inmates - Jesse Bell and Steven Ford - from the facility Oct. 28 and is being held at the Butler County Detention Center.

The former correction officer is expected to make an appearance in Butler County District Court on Wednesday. Charges will be read, and an arraignment date will be set.

Meanwhile, Ford and Bell are being held by New Mexico authorities to face charges of felon in possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property and resisting or evading an officer.

Ford also faces charges of aggravated assault with intent to commit a violent felony and tampering with evidence.
