Official's alleged anti-Semitic remarks spark outrage
School Committee member and Selectman Maureen Kenney, accused of slurring school Superintendent Richard Silverman's religious beliefs during an October contract negotiation, failed to appear at a Thursday, Nov. 8 School Committee meeting, which was jammed with residents.
Kenney now faces a recall campaign by residents unless she resigns from her elected positions by Monday, Nov. 12.
In a letter to the School Committee, Silverman claimed that Kenney told him, "I don't see any side curls on your head, so what the hell do you need five days of bereavement for? ... Besides, don't you Jews just plant them within 24 hours?"
