Needham neighbor says victim was a 'nice man'

Yellow police tape was wrapped around the home at 234 Elmwood Road, just where the road meets Great Plain Avenue. The Garrison colonial home, with a red, brick façade on the lower level and eggshell white siding on the rest, stood silently as news crews watched from across Great Plain Avenue, as police busily worked in the yard.

Robert Moore, 78, was found murdered and his daughter-in-law, Nancy Moore, was badly beaten in the basement of the home. State police arrested contractor William Dunn, 41, for the alleged murder.

"We're just stunned," said Leisa Cosentino, of 207 Great Plain Ave., who was friendly with Moore's daughter, who no longer lives at the home. "We know him from church a little bit. He's a very nice man."

Both Moore and Cosentino attended St. Bartholomew Church on Greendale Avenue. Consentino noted Moore was a widower.

<span>Moore's grandson, Jamie Moore, who had been painting the exterior of the house, came upon the murder scene. He told police at approximately 12:49 p.m. that a contractor beat his mother and grandfather. </span>
