Ex-Iberia police chief sentenced

A former Iberia police chief has been sentenced to jail time, probation and ordered to pay a fine stemming from a conviction for misdemeanor possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

Isom Douglas Pope, 54, was sentenced before Miller County Associate Circuit Judge Kenneth L. Oswald on Wednesday. A jury found him guilty of the charges in September.
