North Shore Arts Association celebrates 85 years
North Shore Arts Association is celebrating its 85th anniversary with a special exhibition that runs through Oct. 28. Paintings and sculpture from some of the early and founding members will be displayed along side present artist members in "<span style="font-style: normal;">The Past & Present Exhibition</span>."
Some of the early artists of note include Emile Gruppe, Gertrude Fiske, Cecilia Beaux, Walker Hancock, Aldro Hibbard, Paul Cornoyer, W. Lester Stevens, and Frederick J. Mulhaupt. Among its past and present members the organization is proud to have artists who have earned national and international reputations and have achieved special recognition by being members of prestigious organizations like the National Academy of Design.
Today NSAA is home to more than 350 artist members as well as hundreds of patrons and associate members.
<span style="font-weight: normal;">The exhibition has drawn national attention with a 10-page spread in the current issue of the </span> <span style="font-style: normal;">American Art Review</span> <span style="font-weight: normal;">, and visitors from all over the country are arriving to view the spectacular art now on display</span>
In conjunction with this special show, the Association is publishing a catalogue, available in soft and hard cover, and with a detailed history of the organization there are many color plates of works of its distinguished members from the past.
The final docent-led walk of the show will be on Oct. 28 at 2 p.m.
Admission is free, and the show is open to the public.
