Rome youth battles drug-resistant staph infection

Justin Losowski, 11, returned home Tuesday after another round with his near-death battle against MRSA, a drug-resistant staph infection.

Justin has been in and out of the hospital since August and hasn't been back to school since then.

Wednesday, the Rome City School District announced that it had two students who had MRSA.

Justin's mother, Lori Losowski, said she is unsure if Justin is one of the students the district was referring to.

"To the best of my knowledge, Justin is not one of those two because he wasn't in school."

District Superintendent Jeffrey P. Simons was unavailable to comment about Justin's illness.
