Kolaz resigns post

Mark Kolaz of Springfield has resigned his $121,116-a-year post as chief of staff of the Department of Central Management Services.

"He resigned to take a position in the private sector," Rebecca Rausch, a spokeswoman for Gov. Rod Blagojevich, said today. "It is entirely his doing. It was planned for some time."

Rausch said Kolaz's departure from the state, which took effect Monday, is not the result of recent publicity surrounding Kolaz and his ex-wife.

The Associated Press reported last week that a company partly owned by Kolaz, Modern Mailing & Printing Services, has done business with the state without a waiver from the governor, as is required when high-level state employees are involved with companies that get state contracts.
