School worker charged with possessing child porn

A 60-year-old Macedon man who had been working for the Victor Central School District's transportation department is facing federal charges for allegedly possessing child pornography, said U.S. Attorney Terrance P. Flynn.

Richard Krenzer, whose street address was not available, was charged today. A computer that was seized from Krenzer's home by agents from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Department on Sept. 27 allegedly contained images of child pornography.

No additional details were immediately available this afternoon. School district officials said Krenzer had been placed on administrative leave.

If convicted, Krenzer faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.

In a news release, Flynn said Krenzer was placed on home detention and electronic monitoring pending the outcome of the criminal case.

The investigation was launched as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative started in February 2006 and designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.

The charges were the culmination of an investigation by the Department of Homeland Security, the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement under the direction of special agent Lev Kubiak.
