Joey Porter a graduate of ‘Linebackers Used'
Pennsylvania is known for its linebackers.

<p class="MsoNormal">The Steelers have a history of drafting good linebackers outside Round 1, milking the best of out their careers, then letting them finish with teams willing to pay more.
<p class="MsoNormal">Joey Porter, whom the Browns will face Sunday for the first time with Porter in a jersey other than Pittsburgh's, is the latest graduate of Linebackers Used.

<p class="MsoNormal">Steelers: Round 3 pick in 1999. Started 106 of 112 games from 2000-06, amassing 60 sacks and helping the team to four playoff seasons and one Super Bowl win.
<p class="MsoNormal">Next team: Signed with the Dolphins at age 30. Has started four of five games, totaling 13 tackles and no sacks on an 0-5 team.
<p class="MsoNormal">Greg Lloyd
<p class="MsoNormal">Steelers: Round 6 pick in 1987. Mostly a starter through 1997, making a career-high 10 sacks for the 1994 team that reached a Super Bowl.
<p class="MsoNormal">Next team: At age 33, started 14 games for the 1998 Panthers. A 4-12 season was his last in the league.
<p class="MsoNormal">Levon Kirkland
<p class="MsoNormal">Steelers: Round 2 pick in 1992. Started 104 of 108 games from 1993-2000, at one point helping the team to four straight division titles.
<p class="MsoNormal">Next team: Joined the Seahawks in 2001 at age 32, started 16 games for a team that missed the playoffs; played one more year, starting 15 games for an Eagles team that reached an NFC title game.

<p class="MsoNormal">Steelers: Round 3 pick in 1994. Started 112 straight games from 1997-2003. Played on six division championship teams.
<p class="MsoNormal">Next team: At age 32, played nine games for a 2004 Jaguars team that missed the playoffs. It was his last year in the league.
<p class="MsoNormal">Earl Holmes
<p class="MsoNormal">Steelers: Round 4 pick in 1996. Started 78 of 80 games from 1997-2001, helping the '01 Steelers go 13-3 and reach the AFC finals.
<p class="MsoNormal">Next team: At age 28, he went without a fight to the Browns, making 16 starts, including a 36-33 playoff loss at Pittsburgh. He played three more years, starting 37 games for the Lions.
<p class="MsoNormal">Kendrell Bell
<p class="MsoNormal">Steelers: Round 2 pick in 2001. Became AFC defensive rookie of the year on a 13-3 team; played three more years but appeared in just three games for an '04 team that went 15-1.
<p class="MsoNormal">Next team: Went to the Chiefs as a free agent; started in 2005 and '06 for teams that went 19-13 but missed the playoffs both years; now a backup.
