Two people arrested in cocaine diaper case

<p align="left">Police said they arrested an Ottawa man after finding 87 grams of cocaine in a diaper for his baby son during a routine traffic stop.

<p align="left">

<p align="left">A van driven by Cesar Hernandez, 30, of Ottawa was stopped at 2:48 p.m. Thursday in the 1600 block of Chaplain Street.

<p align="left">

<p align="left">Officers saw Hernandez stuff something under the front seat. The object turned out to be a clean diaper that contained the cocaine, police said.

<p align="left">

<p align="left">Hernandez is charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. Also charged with the Class X felony was one of Hernandez's passengers, Ubaldo Chaidez, 30, Ottawa.

<p align="left">Hernandez also was charged with failure to signal when required, disobeying a stop sign, no valid driver's license and no valid insurance. He also was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for failure to appear on a theft charge from Grundy County.

<p align="left">Hernandez and Chaidez remained in the LaSalle County Jail on Monday. Hernandez is being held on $73,500 bond. Chaidez's bond is $75,000.

<p align="left">Hernadez was traveling with Chaidez, the 18-month-old baby and the baby's mother.

<p align="left">The mother was not charged, but the Department of Child Services is investigating the incident, police said.
