Doug Goodman: CWD tests offered for archery hunt
<p align="justify">Archery hunters in northern Illinois can have their deer tested for chronic wasting disease this season through the state Department of Natural Resources.
<p align="justify">Hunters can drop off the deer heads with the three neck vertebrae attached and without antlers at these locations: Smokehouse Processing, 5735 S. Ninth St., Rockford; Rock Cut State Park, 7318 Harlem Road, Loves Park; or Boone County Conservation District's maintenance building, 655 N. Appleton Road, Belvidere.
<p align="justify">CWD tissue samples will be extracted at these locations: Pinnons Meats, 2324 N. Court St., Rockford; Eickman's Processing, Seward; or Authentic Taxidermy, 1849 Yates Ave, Beloit, Wis.
<p align="justify">Test results will be posted on the DNR Web site.
<p align="left">Help sought for fish shocking
<p align="justify">The Department of Natural Resources is looking for some help with its study of the fish in the Pecatonica River watershed.
<p align="justify">The DNR staff will shock sections of the river to collect data for its five-year survey Tuesday through Thursday.
<p align="justify">Volunteers are needed for one day or one shift both on land or in the water.
<p align="justify">Volunteers are asked to bring their own waders.

<p align="left">Rock Cut cleanup this morning
<p align="justify">The annual Rock Cut State Park cleanup is 9 a.m. to noon today.
<p align="justify">Paddle and Trail of Loves Park, in conjunction with the Rock Cut staff, organized the event.
<p align="justify">The cleanup focuses on Pierce Lake's shore.
<p align="left">Catfish bait lands 3 in jail
<p align="justify">Three Ohio men recently got netted in a police sting on a "fishy" charge.
<p align="justify">They were arrested for trying to sell catfish bait mixed with vinegar to undercover cops, claiming the substance was heroin.
<p align="justify">The officers confiscated the bait.
<p align="left">Sportsmen try to halt hunt
<p align="justify">The Unified Sportsmen of Pennsylvania is suing to try to stop the antlerless deer hunt on state lands.
<p align="justify">The group says the Game Commission doesn't have adequate data to justify the number of antlerless permits issued.
<p align="justify">The group believes the deer population is dwindling under the current system, according to The Associated Press.
