Peoria Oktoberfest features food, beer, music and log-sawing competition

When it comes to slicing through wooden logs, Joseph Virant of Peoria has been known to leave the competition in his sawdust.

Virant holds the record for the two-person log-sawing competitions organized by the German American Central Society at annual festivals like Oktoberfest, which takes place this weekend on the Peoria riverfront.
