Man pleads guilty to 14th DUI, gets up to 8 years in prison

A Marshfield man pleaded guilty today to his 14th drunken driving offense.

Judge Elizabeth Donovan sentenced Robert Scheller to 6½ to 8 years in prison.

Scheller, 57, pleaded guilty to two charges of drunken driving in Pembroke and Marshfield last year, plus a charge of operating to endanger.

Following his release, he must also serve five years of probation, attend AA meetings, submit to random alcohol testing and perform community service .

Scheller was charged in Pembroke after witnesses said he got into a car crash in a Stop & Shop parking lot.

A Pembroke police officer chose not to charge Scheller, and instead turned him over to Marshfield police to be taken home.

A grand jury was later convened and returned an indictment for a drunken-driving charge in the case. He was also charged with a Marshfield drunken driving incident a week after the Pembroke crash.
