Bruce Weber loses a coach to Kentucky

A hard stretch in recruiting apparently just got worse for Illinois basketball coach Bruce Weber when assistant coach Tracy Webster resigned his position Wednesday to accept an assistant coaching job at Kentucky.

Despite Illinois' inability to land high-profile recruits in the Chicago area, Webster was considered a valuable recruiter with Chicago contacts who put Illinois in contention. Evidently, Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie, the former Illinois assistant, considered Webster an up-and-comer worth filling the position left vacant since Gillispie's hiring last spring.
