Deutsche notebook: A fortuitous turn of events

No doubt NBC television and the PGA Tour golf clapped to themselves when Aaron Baddeley bogeyed the 18th hole in yesterday's third round of the Deutsche Bank Championship. That's because Baddeley's bogey dropped him from 11- to 10-under par. And since Phil Mickelson turned in his 10-under first, it meant he'd be paired with Tiger Woods for today's final round, not Baddeley.

The FedEx Cup playoff series may have its kinks, but it's produced some outstanding groupings. Woods, Mickelson and Vijay Singh played together Friday and Saturday, and now Woods and Mickelson will play together for the third time in four days.
