White Sox notebook: Another South Sider looking to next year
Mike Myers has joined the White Sox for the final five weeks of the 2007 season, but like so many on the South Side, he's already thinking about 2008.
"That's the reason why they put the option on the contract," the reliever said of the Sox's $1.1 million option on him for next season. "So I come here and get the job done for six weeks, force them to pick the option up. (General manager) Kenny Williams left a message on my voice mail. He said, 'If we weren't thinking about next year, we wouldn't have signed you.' So obviously, they're working toward 2008, and hopefully, I'm part of the future."
