Editorial: The price of Rove's take-no-prisoners politics

Karl Rove was great at his job, until he wasn't.

The so-called "architect" of the Bush presidency - "Bush's brain," he was labeled -- also was the mastermind behind the GOP meltdown of the 2006 midterms. Three years after he couldn't do anything wrong as the maestro behind two improbably successful campaigns for the Oval Office, many Americans don't think Rove can do much of anything right as he leaves Washington at the end of this month. He overplayed his hand, lost his touch. Hubris strikes again.
