Making great movies not ‘Rocket Science' for Blitz

If you ever bump into Jeffrey Blitz - former fiction writer, former stutterer, current documentary and feature filmmaker - at a social gathering, don't bring up topics like target audiences or the messages of his movies. But feel free to talk about Alfred Hitchcock, Oscar nominations and the idea that one thing does indeed lead to another.

Blitz fully believes that the early popularity of his sweet and intense Oscar-nominated 2002 spelling bee documentary "Spellbound" led directly to a green light for his new comedy "Rocket Science," the story of a stuttering teen who's asked to join his high school debate team. He happily insists that many of the new film's ideas were formed during the making of "Spellbound."
