Ferrell, McClusky medal for Harrisburg in season opener

Ali Ferrell fired a low round 46 as the Harrisburg girls' golf team got past Zeigler-Royalton Friday afternoon at Shawnee Hills Country Club in Harrisburg.

Gabby Adams had a 47 for the Bulldogs as followed by a 51 from Annabella Robinson, a 53 from Madeline DeNeal and a 59 from Gracie Behnke.

For Z-R, Savannah Sherman fired a low round 47, while Ashley Arvai had a 54. Other scores for the Tornado included: Chelsea Young (67), Alli Anderson (69), Addisyn Calloni (70) and

Jacquelyn Walter (71).

Boys: Zeigler-Roylaton 182, Harrisburg 199

The Harrisburg boys fell to Zeigler-Royalton 182-199 Friday at Shawnee Hills Country Club in Harrisburg.

Ashton Hall fired the low round for the Bulldogs, shooting a 45.

Patrick Bittle was one stroke off Hall's pace with a 46, while Krayton Morse carded a 51 and Ben Brombaugh came away with a 57. Clay Brigham (60) and Hayden Emery (64) rounded out the scores for Harrisburg.

Z-R's Seager was medalist with a 41.

At the Mt.Carmel Invitational late last week, the Bulldogs were led by a pair of girls golfers who finished in the Top 10.

Madison McClusky had a third place finish overall, firing an 87, while Ferrell finished fifth, carding an 87.

McClusky and Ferrell both went out in 45 and came in with a 42 as the Harrisburg girls shot a 387, finishing third as a team.

Mt. Carmel won the event with a 364, while Oblong was second with a 382.

Other scores for Harrisburg included a 103 for Annabella Robinson, a 110 from Gabby Adams, a 113 from Madeline DeNeal and a 118 from Gracie Behnke.

On the boys' side, Harrisburg was fifth out of five teams, shooting a 400.

Carmi won the event with a 315, while Lawrenceville was second with a 326, followed by a 349 from Mt. Carmel for third place and Hamilton County had a 360.

Ashton Hall went 45-45 for a 90, while Ben Brombaugh had a 102, Krayton Morse shot a 103 and Andrew Bittle rounded out scores with a 104.
